Education:
Before joining the Catholic Church, we ask that you have a basic understanding of what it means to be Catholic. We provide you with the basic tenets of the faith through a series of weekly classes.
Community:
Becoming Catholic is not just about learning; it is also about community, family…and that is what Church really is. In the process of taking the classes, you will meet and get to know others in the parish. RCIA provides an entry point into a deeper relationship with the parish and with the wider Catholic community.
Receiving the Sacraments of Initiation:
The sacraments of initiation—baptism, confirmation, and first Communion—are typically celebrated at thee Easter Vigil Mass. At this time, those participating in RCIA become full members of the Catholic Church. Though bishops are the ordinary ministers of Confirmation, pastors may confer Confirmation at the Easter Vigil and other times when appointed by the bishop to do so.
Through the RCIA process, the candidates are also prepared for the sacrament of reconciliation, that is, first confession.
